Where To Use It
How To Tie / Assemble
- 1Select a mushroom-style Ned head jig ranging from 1/16 to 1/4 ounce.
- 2Thread your 2-3 inch soft plastic stick bait onto the jig hook, ensuring it is perfectly straight for a natural fall.
- 3Ensure the plastic is pushed completely against the jig collar to prevent slipping during casts.
- 4Tie the main line directly to the jig eye using a Palomar knot, tightening it carefully.
- 5Check that the bait stands vertically when placed in water to confirm it is rigged correctly.
Recommended Baits
Z-Man Finesse TRD
The industry standard; its buoyant ElaZtech material ensures the bait stands straight up off the bottom for an enticing 'dead stick' presentation.
Z-Man TRD CrawZ
Ideal for imitating crayfish when bass are feeding along rocky bottoms; the pincers float upward to mimic a defensive posture.
Big Bite Baits Squirrel Tail Worm
Features a unique bulbous tail that flickers with the slightest movement, perfect for pressured fish in clear water conditions.
Z-Man Hula StickZ
A hybrid between a tube and a stick bait, the tentacles provide extra micro-vibration that triggers bites during cold front conditions.
Yamamoto Senko (3-inch version)
Provides a subtle, natural fall rate and familiar profile that excels when finesse techniques are required in heavy fishing pressure.
How To Use It
Cast the rig out and let it sink to the bottom on a semi-slack line. Use a 'shake and drag' retrieve, where you twitch your rod tip gently to vibrate the bait in place without moving it forward, then drag it a few inches along the substrate. Focus on keeping the lure in the strike zone longer, as the buoyant plastic tail dances upward to entice hesitant fish.
