The Call Wall
Every call, when to use it, and how to run it — plus step-by-step tutorials and real call clips from vetted callers.
Contact Grunt
When: Any time of season to call a buck in close or stop a walking deer.
How: Short, soft 1–2 second grunts spaced 30+ seconds apart. Less is more.
Tending Grunt
When: Pre-rut through the rut when bucks are chasing.
How: A string of short, rhythmic grunts like a buck trailing a doe — urp, urp, urp.
Snort-Wheeze
When: Peak rut, only to a mature buck that hangs up out of range.
How: Two quick snorts then a long drawn-out wheeze through the teeth. Aggressive — use sparingly.
Doe Bleat
When: Rut and late season; draws curious does and the bucks following them.
How: Tip the can or blow a soft bleat 2–3 times, wait 15–20 minutes.
Rattling
When: Seeking and pre-rut, especially with a good buck-to-doe ratio.
How: Clash and grind the antlers 30–60 seconds, rake brush, then wait 20 minutes before repeating.
