Bodygrip Water / Run Set
A fast, humane drowning set for muskrat, mink, and beaver in the runs they already use.

Where to Set
Find pinch points — den entrances, dam crossovers, narrow channels, and shallow runs where the animal must swim through. The narrower and more defined the run, the better the catch rate.
How to Build It
- 1Locate an active underwater run, den mouth, or dam crossover.
- 2Size the bodygrip to the run (110 for muskrat/mink, 330 for beaver).
- 3Set the trap squarely in the run so the animal must pass through the frame.
- 4Stake it firmly on both sides so it can't twist, and position for a quick drowning.
- 5Guide the animal into the frame with natural sticks if the run is wider than the trap.
Bait & Lure
Usually a blind set (no bait) placed directly in a travel run. For beaver, a castor lure nearby can pull them into the channel.
Gear & Traps
110 or 330 bodygrip trap, setting tool (for 330), safety gripper, stakes or rebar, wire, gloves.
Best Conditions
Open water or thin-ice edges through the trapping season. Works best where water is deep enough for a fast drowning.
Safety & Legal
Bodygrips are powerful — always use a setting tool and safety catch for 330s. Many states restrict bodygrip size on land; confirm water-set and size regulations. Never set large bodygrips where pets could access them.
