Where To Use It
How To Tie / Assemble
- 1Slide a sliding egg sinker or a dedicated knocker rig weight onto your main fishing line.
- 2Tie a high-quality barrel swivel to the end of your main line using a Palomar knot to stop the weight from sliding further.
- 3Attach 18-36 inches of fluorocarbon leader material to the bottom eye of the swivel using an Improved Clinch or Uni knot.
- 4Tie your hook directly to the end of the fluorocarbon leader.
- 5Thread your live bait through the nose or hook it through the back depending on species preference.

Live Pinfish or Grunt
The weight slides directly to the hook, allowing the fish to swim naturally near the bottom, which is irresistible to Grouper.
Live Shrimp
Best for Redfish and Black Drum when they are leader-shy; the minimal hardware visibility keeps the offering natural.
Fresh Cut Mullet or Ladyfish
Use this for Cobia or large Snapper; the sliding weight keeps the bait stationary in current while the scent trail attracts predators.
Live Blue Crab
Ideal for targeting larger Black Drum or permit-sized fish, as the Knocker Rig allows the crab to move slightly before it settles into the strike zone.
How To Use It
Drop the rig to the bottom and engage your reel. Keep a tight line to feel for the subtle taps of bottom feeders. If fishing in heavy current, use just enough weight to keep the bait on the bottom while allowing it to drift naturally. Once a fish bites, feed them a few inches of line before setting the hook firmly.
