Free-Line Live Bait Rig

1. 1Slide your main fishing line through the eye of a high-quality circle hook or J-hook.
2. 2Wrap the tag end around the standing line 5 to 7 times.
3. 3Pass the tag end back through the loop created at the eye of the hook.
4. 4Pass the tag end through the larger loop formed by the previous step.
5. 5Moisten the line with water and pull both the tag end and the standing line to tighten the knot securely against the eye.
6. 6Trim the excess tag end neatly.

Cast the bait upstream or up-current of the target area, allowing it to drift naturally with the flow. Keep a 'semi-slack' line to ensure the bait maintains a natural swimming posture. Avoid reeling; simply manage the line to stay in contact with the bait, and allow the fish to run for a few seconds before engaging the reel and setting the hook.
