Where To Use It
How To Tie / Assemble
- 1Attach your tapered leader to the fly line using a loop-to-loop connection.
- 2Measure and cut 3-5 feet of tippet material suitable for the size of your fly.
- 3Connect the tippet to the end of the leader using a Double Surgeon's Knot.
- 4Select your dry fly and thread the tippet through the hook eye.
- 5Tie the fly to the end of the tippet using a Clinch Knot.
- 6Apply a small amount of fly floatant to the hackle of the fly to ensure it stays on the surface.
Recommended Baits
Parachute Adams
A versatile attractor pattern that excels when trout are rising to unknown surface insects.
Elk Hair Caddis
Best utilized during caddis hatches or when prospecting fast-moving water due to its high buoyancy.
Blue Winged Olive (BWO) Dun
Essential for overcast or drizzly days when small, delicate mayflies are emerging.
Royal Wulff
Highly visible in turbulent pocket water where trout need a high-profile fly to track.
Griffith's Gnat
Used when trout are selectively feeding on tiny midge clusters on calm surface pools.
How To Use It
Cast the dry fly upstream and slightly across, allowing for a drag-free drift. Use a 'mending' technique by flipping your line upstream to keep the fly moving naturally at the same speed as the current. Watch for the rise, wait a split second for the take, and perform a steady, controlled hookset.
