About This Lure

A flat-sided sinking bait with loud rattles, ideal for burning over grass flats and locating active fish.

How To Fish It

The lipless crankbait is a search tool designed to cover vast water quickly. Cast it past target grass lines, docks, or rocky points, and maintain constant contact with the bottom or vegetation to trigger reaction strikes. On lethargic days, utilize a yo-yo retrieve to allow the bait to flutter down into the strike zone.

Retrieve Cadence

A steady, moderate speed retrieve with occasional sharp rips of the rod tip to clear debris from the hooks and create an erratic 'fleeing' action.

Best Colors

Chrome/Blue Back— Clear water and bright, sunny conditions
Red Craw— Early spring pre-spawn in muddy or stained water
Gold/Black Back— Overcast days or tannin-stained water
Sexy Shad— General purpose for matching threadfin shad hatch

Pro Tips

  • Always rip the bait free when you feel it snag on weeds; the sudden erratic motion is a primary strike trigger.
  • Upgrade your stock hooks to high-quality short-shank trebles to reduce snagging in grass.
  • If the bass are following but not committing, switch to a faster retrieve speed to force a reaction bite.
  • In colder water, focus on slow-rolling the bait just above the bottom rather than aggressive ripping.
