About This Lure

A heavy compact spoon jigged vertically over deep schools of bass and walleye near the bottom.

How To Fish It

Locate suspended baitfish or bottom-hugging schools using side-imaging sonar. Drop the spoon directly into the school, keeping a tight line on the fall to detect strikes as the lure flutters down. Maintain verticality by adjusting your boat positioning as needed to stay directly over the target zone.

Retrieve Cadence

Snap the rod tip upward sharply 12 to 18 inches to kick the spoon, then immediately drop the tip back to allow the lure to flutter horizontally on a slack-tention hybrid arc.

Chrome/Blue— Clear water with sunny skies

Gold— Stained water or cloudy conditions

6'6" to 7'0" medium-heavy fast action spinning rod, 2500-series reel with a high retrieve ratio, 10-12 lb fluorocarbon or 15 lb braid with a fluorocarbon leader.

Pro Tips

Swap factory treble hooks for a feathered single hook to reduce snagging and increase hook-up ratios on short-striking fish.
Watch your electronics closely; if you see a fish rise to meet the spoon on your graph but don't feel a hit, increase your rip speed.
Always check your line for nicks after every few fish, as the sharp metal edges of spoons can abrade fluorocarbon.
Paint a small dot on one side of the spoon with a permanent marker to track the 'flash' orientation during the flutter.
