StopBox Security Cable Review: Is It Worth The Upgrade?
Quick Verdict
When you invest in a quick-access safe like the StopBox, your goal is balancing speed with security. The Security Cable is a simple, effective accessory that keeps your unit from being carried off. At a price point of $25, it provides peace of mind that outweighs the cost. While it isn't a replacement for a heavy bolted safe, for mobile or temporary setups, it is an essential piece of kit.

Who Is It For?
The Security Cable is designed for the hunter or homeowner who wants to anchor their StopBox without permanently drilling holes into furniture or flooring. It is ideal for those who use the StopBox Pro or StopBox Pro Compact in a vehicle, a rented home, or a temporary hunting cabin where semi-permanent installation is required.
Key Features & Build
This is a heavy-duty steel cable. It features a robust design meant to tether your safe to a fixed object, like a heavy bed frame, a sturdy desk leg, or a secure structural point in a vehicle. The build quality is consistent with the StopBox brand—rugged, utilitarian, and focused on functional security. It doesn't rely on complex locking mechanisms that could fail; instead, it provides a physical deterrent against grab-and-go theft.
Real-World Use
In testing, the cable is straightforward to integrate. You loop it through the designated anchor point on your safe and secure it to your chosen immovable object. It is surprisingly effective for something so simple. Because it is flexible, you have more mounting options than you would with fixed bolts. It’s a great "insurance policy" to ensure that even if someone finds your safe, they aren't walking away with it.

3-pack $19.95
The Security Cable retails for $25. While this is an add-on, it is worth noting that it is often available as a "FREE with purchase" item during specific promotions. If you are already looking at picking up a unit like the StopBox Pro/Pro BOGO or the StopBox Pro/Compact BOGO, check if the cable is bundled to maximize your value.
Comparison to the StopBox Lineup
Compared to the StopBox Pro Ward, which is designed for wall-mounting, the cable offers more versatility for those who move their gear. It fills a different niche than the Harvest Tags or other accessories, as it serves a purely defensive purpose.
