StopBox Security Cable Review: Is It Worth The Upgrade?
Quick Verdict
When you invest in a StopBox, your primary goal is rapid, reliable access paired with secure storage. The Security Cable serves as a logical accessory for anyone worried about the physical removal of their safe. At $25, it provides a high-value deterrent against grab-and-go theft. It is not an invincible barrier, but it adds that critical extra layer of friction that often discourages unauthorized removal. If you are mounting your unit in a vehicle, at a campsite, or near an entry point, this cable is a small investment for significant peace of mind.
Who It’s For
This accessory is designed for the hunter or defender who takes mobility seriously. If you frequent the shooting range, travel with your firearm, or want to tether your unit to a bed frame or sturdy furniture, the Security Cable is your best friend. It bridges the gap between a portable lockbox and a permanent safe, giving you the best of both worlds.
Key Features & Build
Constructed from heavy-duty steel, the cable is engineered to resist basic cutting tools and provide a solid anchor point. The design is straightforward: it loops through the designated housing on your StopBox and secures to a fixed, immovable object.
- Pros:
- Robust steel construction for maximum durability.
- Simple, tool-free installation for most users.
- Extremely affordable at only $25.
- Can often be obtained as a free add-on depending on current Shop promotions.
- Cons:
- Adds a small amount of extra bulk to your storage setup.
- Not a substitute for a heavy, bolted-down safe if you are storing high-value items for long durations.
Real-World Use
In practical application, the cable integrates seamlessly with the StopBox Pro. I tested it by tethering the unit to a sturdy metal table frame. Once locked in place, the range of motion is limited, effectively preventing a thief from simply walking off with the box. It is particularly useful for hunters in base camps or hotel rooms where permanent hardware installation is not an option. It remains tight and does not interfere with the internal operation or the mechanical buttons of the unit.

Value for the Price
At $25, the price point is fair for the security it provides. It is important to note that Buckeye Hunter Hub often offers this Security Cable as a "FREE with purchase" item during specific sales. Before you buy it outright, check the Shop to see if you can snag it alongside a StopBox Pro Compact or a StopBox Pro/Pro BOGO bundle.
Comparison to the StopBox Lineup
Raise a safe, confident young hunter.
Guide your kids ages 5–17 through interactive hunting safety missions, real decision drills, and earned trophies — all from one free parent account.
While the main units like the StopBox Pro Ward | Wall-Mounted offer permanent security, they lack the portability of the base models. If you have the StopBox Pro/Compact BOGO, keeping a Security Cable in your kit ensures that your secondary unit remains secure wherever you take it. It is the perfect companion to any of the portable units in the lineup.
Final Recommendation
For $25, you are buying peace of mind. It turns a portable box into a semi-permanent station. If you value the security of your gear, pick up your Security Cable today to ensure your box stays exactly where you put it.
