Growing up, he learned the trade from his grandfather, absorbing the patience and precision required to turn raw hide into functional tools. Today, through his brand Taggart Outdoors, Richard continues that tradition, building gear for those who spend their lives in the pursuit of the wild.

The Art of the Hand
In an era of mass production and automated assembly lines, Richard chooses the slower, harder path. There are no machines in his process. Every piece he produces—from the initial cut to the final stitch—is entirely handmade. He works with high-quality, 8-9 oz vegetable-tanned leather, which is tooled, carved, stained, painted, and finished by hand. This deliberate approach ensures that every item is as tough as the person carrying it, designed to endure the physical demands of the field.

Designed specifically for the Buckeye Hunter Hub community, each sling features a classic basketweave design with our signature 'BHH' initials stamped into the leather.
Comfort is the primary concern for any hunter on a long trek. That is why each sling is carefully padded with foam, ensuring that your firearm remains secure without causing fatigue. Constructed with premium chrome fasteners and durable white wax thread, and protected by an antique and resolene finish, this sling is built to withstand the elements.
