About This Lure

A compact, weedguard-equipped jig for pitching and flipping into thick brush, laydowns, and mats.

How To Fish It

Target thick cover such as docks, laydowns, and matted vegetation by pitching the jig to the shade pockets or dense structural edges. Allow the lure to reach the bottom on a semi-slack line to detect strikes during the initial fall, then hop the jig once or twice before checking the next target.

Retrieve Cadence

Let the jig sink to the bottom, perform two sharp upward rod pops to flare the skirt, then pause for three seconds to allow the craw trailer to settle before reeling in to hit the next target.

Best Colors

Black and Blue— Stained or muddy water conditions.
Green Pumpkin— Clear to lightly stained water.
Brown and Orange— Crawfish-heavy environments during the spring.
White— Early shad spawns or overcast days.

Sizes & When To Use

3/8 ozVersatile all-purpose weight for shallow targets and slower fall rates.
1/2 ozStandard weight for punching through moderate cover or windy conditions.
3/4 ozIdeal for punching thick mats and triggering reaction strikes in deep cover.

Recommended Gear

7'6" heavy power, fast action casting rod paired with a 7.1:1 gear ratio baitcasting reel spooled with 20-25lb fluorocarbon or 50-65lb braided line for heavy cover.

Pro Tips

  • Always trim the skirt back slightly to match the size of your trailer for a more compact profile.
  • Watch your line closely as the jig falls; most bites occur before the lure hits the bottom.
  • Use a trailer with minimal action when the water temperature is cold and bass are lethargic.
  • Ensure your hook is sharp enough to penetrate the tough, plastic-coated mouth of a large bass through heavy cover.
