How To Tie / Assemble

1Tie a large dropper loop or a surgeons loop at the very end of your main line to attach the bank sinker.
2Measure 12 inches up from the sinker loop and tie a dropper loop about 4 inches long.
3Cut the loop in half to create two tag ends and tie a hook onto one end.
4Measure another 12 to 15 inches up the main line and repeat the dropper loop process to create a second hook point.
5Attach your sinker to the bottom loop using a simple loop-to-loop connection.
6Thread your hooks onto the dropper loops using a snell or clinch knot, ensuring the hook eye faces outward.

Recommended Baits

Squid strips

The standard choice for this rig due to its durability, allowing it to stay on the hook through multiple bites from smaller bait-stealing species.

Bloodworms

Highly effective for Croaker and Pinfish due to their natural scent and wriggling action, making them ideal when fish are being finicky.

Fresh shrimp

A versatile universal bait that works well for Snapper and Sea Bass, especially when targeting mixed-species catches on rocky or reef structure.

Clam pieces

An excellent option for Scup and larger bottom dwellers; the soft texture releases strong juices that draw fish in from a distance.

Gulp! Saltwater Sandworms

A synthetic alternative that is much more resilient than live bait; perfect for keeping the rig productive while targeting Flounder without needing constant re-baiting.

How To Use It

Drop the rig until the weight hits the bottom, then crank it up one or two turns so the bottom hook is just off the substrate. Keep the line taut to feel light taps, and lift the rod tip firmly when you feel resistance to set the hooks.

Why the Palomar Knot

The Palomar Knot is preferred because it maintains nearly 100% of line strength and ensures the hook stands out perpendicular to the line, preventing snagging and improving hook-ups.

Gear & Setup

20-40lb monofilament or fluorocarbon leader, 1/0 to 3/0 circle hooks, 2 to 6 ounce bank or pyramid sinkers, and cut bait or shrimp.

Best Conditions

Best used in current or moving tides where fish are actively foraging on the bottom; works in both clear and stained water throughout the spring, summer, and fall.
