Species & Seasons
Black Bass (Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spotted)
Open year-round in most impoundments; in Ozark streams, catch-and-release is available year-round with a harvest season typically from late May through February. Daily limit is 6.
Crappie (White and Black)
Open year-round. Peak fishing occurs during the spring spawn (April-May). The daily limit is generally 30 fish with varying length limits depending on the reservoir.
Trout (Rainbow and Brown)
Trout Parks (Bennett Spring, Montauk, Roaring River, Maramec Spring) are open for harvest March 1 – Oct 31. Catch-and-release is available in winter months. Blue Ribbon streams are open year-round with strict lure and size restrictions.
Walleye and Sauger
Open year-round on most waters. A popular spawning run occurs in late February through March in tributary rivers. Daily limit is 4.
Catfish (Channel, Blue, Flathead)
Open year-round. Summer months are best for trophy blue and flathead catfish in the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Daily limit is 10 for channel, 5 for blue, and 5 for flathead.
Paddlefish (Spoonbill)
The snagging season is strictly regulated, typically running from March 15 to June 15 on Table Rock Lake, Lake of the Ozarks, and Truman Reservoir.
